We’ll do it live! Fuck it!

I’ve decided to simply make this blog something of my own instead of something people may *want* to read. Fuck ‘em.
To follow up on this, here’s a short summary of what I’ve been doing since the last post:
- Working [and finishing] the layout and transfer of rigolega.com
- Flipping my shit about a certain Mega Man 9
- Working an 8 hour, 5-day-a-week job
- Loading up a new Thinkpad T61 for college
- Maintaining and administering the largest Classic Mega Man group on Facebook
- Leaving you hungry for MOAR…PLOX.
The most exciting of the above would have to be the completion of rigolega.com. My brother has been writing for his own website for years, and we finally made it look pretty decent. It’s some very top-quality writing; be sure to check it out. It really is something that’ll make you laugh your ass off nonstop. The site is run through Wordpress, much like this one. The end result looks pretty sleek, if you ask me. It’s much neater than the previous website. Navigation is much easier and added functionality of comments should work out well. Finishing up that site with mah broham is actually what inspired me to write this post. So, check it out when you can. I guarantee you’ll get a laugh out of it.
I’ve been working for my old high school’s Technology Office for the past 3 years and this summer is no different. I’ve received increased work hours; I now work from 8am to 3:30pm. This job is another reason I’m not writing or posting more often.
Mega Man 9 was announced, so I’ll be doing a writeup on that sometime soon.
I bought a Lenovo ThinkPad T61 recently. It’s by far the best piece of hardware I’ve ever bought. I’m typing on it as we speak. I’m running Mandriva Linux 2008 One Spring primarily, but also boot Vista Business. Before you get all hot and bothered by the fact that I’m booting Vista, let me explain. Way back when Microsoft was doing its Vista promotion (the official name for the promotion escapes me right now), I was one of the people to watch the required videos first, and thus received a free copy of Windows Vista Business and Office 2007 Professional. At the time, this was about an $800 deal. All I had to do was fill out a W-2 form and I received them free of any charge whatsoever. It was nice. So that’s why I use Vista. I have a copy of XP Home that I received while building my desktop four years ago. It remains on my desktop. The ThinkPad got Vista. Despite all of its flaws, we’re all going to have to move on to it anyway. So why not start using it now? I’m happy with the setup thus far.
The Facebook Mega Man group that I created about a year ago is booming now. It’s got over 700 members to date. With the help of my buddy, Edecio, the group is unbelievably successful. We’re the biggest Classic Mega Man group on Facebook and even have a mention in the Mega Man Classic entry on Wikipedia. I’d say that’s quite an accomplishment, ay? I’m happy with it. And with the upcoming release of Mega Man 9, I expect the group to grow even more. We’ll see how that goes.
Recently, I’ve been debating over whether or not to buy an Xbox 360. The recent price drop caught my eye and there are tons of games coming out for it (or so says E3). The games that have me longing for a 360 are those to be expected by any gamer. Being a lifelong Nintendo fan, I have not strayed from their systems except for the oddball Dreamcast and Genesis (fantastic consoles — Genesis destroys SNES). Thus, I’ve always been used to games that were made for a wider audience. Mario and Zelda were great an all, but I feel as though I’m missing out by only owning a Wii. I haven’t touched the thing in months, mind you. I think a 360 would do me well. Anywho, Ninja Gaiden II has already been released, but looks like the most intense installment in the series yet. I’d never been a Ninja Gaiden fan, but this game looks absolutely astounding. Gears of War 2 and Resident Evil 5 also have me begging for more. The look and feel of these games simply blow me away. After playing through Resident Evil 4 on my PC, I’ve decided to stick with the series from here on in. If 5 is anything like its predecessor, I’m going to blow my load over it. My first experience with GoW wasn’t a satisfying one. I hated the multiplayer. It just wasn’t that great. The single player, however, was spectacular. I was hooked when I first started playing it. Although there’s more to be revealed in terms of the new Prince of Persia, I’m already looking forward to it. There’s also been word of a Geometry Wars 2 coming out for Live Arcade. I’m a HUGE fan of GW and can’t wait to get my hands on that one. I can see myself playing it more than anything else. Finally, I’ve got to admit, I’m a Sonic fan — always have been, always will be. I can only hope that the too-good-to-be-true Sonic Unleashed doesn’t turn into something horrible.
Along with that mentioned above, other miscellaneous events have been popping up on my to-do list. I’ve been busy, but I’m going to try to post some stuff up more often. On a personal level, my girlfriend is still fantastic, and life is treating me quite well. I’ll be moving off to college soon, so I’ll also be getting ready for that.
Expect more soon and keep your eyes peeled.
-Dan
