Well you aren't in that much of a shart creek of loserdom, but you certainly made the attempt it appears. I've used every program on your dock and can validate the use and want at the time, and I wasn't a loser, so I vouch for you. Now if you were to display your tweaked out "I have the VISTA experience desktop" while in XP or Linux then I would call down the God's and arrange a meeting to send you to the gallows.

I don't think I EVER had more than one shortcut to AOL on my desktop (Even when running AOL through a router... it hurts just thinking about it...). Though I did suffer from most of the crap that you did. Animated, exploding cursors? Ridiculous dock full o' shortcuts? Horrible, unnecessary resolution? Had 'em all.

Oh, and grungeman... All the desktop environments you mentioned have their own problems. So don't go all holy-than-thou like so many Linux users do. I use both Linux and Windows, and can say they both have their own place.

the only thing valuable on your desktop: fruity loops.
anyway, if you are still a windose user, I am sure your present desktop is also as useless as the one above. if you would like to see how perfect a real desktop should be; please google for alternatives such as compiz fusion, enlightenment dr17, xfce4, or at least kde or gnome. Youtube will also show you loads of videos about the mentioned desktops.

You neglected to mention that you were listening to Eiffel 65 when there's clearly a Led Zep folder on your desktop.

In all fairness to you, back in the day, a lot of those programs were the shit. Remember when AOL was THE way to get online, except for shitty local dial-up ISPs that had about as much reliability as the worst AOL connection. Granted, by v7 it was well time to move on.

Norton, back in it's heyday, was by and far the greatest A/V software you could find. Somewhere along the way it turned into a resource hogging, computer infecting piece of shit. But it definitely had it's day.

Winamp, as has been said, not so bad, even now. Though if you are serious about swearing off all AOL products, then you better stay away (AOL bought them a while back, it was fairly quiet, but it happened).

Kazaa, after the death of Napster, was really the only file sharing system out there. There was ed2k, and IRC, but for the main-stream file sharer, Kazaa kicked ass. It was like Napster, except with other file types than music. In a similar fashion to Norton, it eventually became a spyware filled, giant waste of time, and a successor (3 cheers for Bit Torrent) came along. But again, back in it's time, it was king shit.

Now, as for StyleXP, your stupid fucking cursor, and your giant wall of shortcuts, not to mention the 800x600 res, I can't help you there. In that sense, you were in fact a loser.

I don't think there is anything wrong with Paint. I actually have it on my quick launch bar as well. Right next to my Photoshop and Imageready icons. It does come in handy if you take a screenshot of your desktop via PrintScreen and just need to save it for later. It's fast; it doesn't use a lot of system resources (unlike Photoshop); it saves in a variety of formats (albeit some of them not very well).

Then again, I have a full quick launch bar, and two folders pinned to each side of my desktop filled with shortcuts. So who am I to say anything bad about this image. It sure is a lot cleaner than my desktop.
